A Blessing, a Release, and the Work Ahead

From Presence to Faithful Practice

January 31 — Closing January, Opening February

January ends the way it began — quietly.

Not with a demand.

Not with a resolution.

But with an invitation to trust that something real has been forming, even if it didn’t announce itself along the way.

This is a day for blessing.

And for release.

And for looking ahead — not with pressure, but with attentiveness.

Discipleship is not about closing one chapter and starting another.

It’s about carrying what has been formed into the life that awaits us next.

A Blessing for What Has Been Formed

As January comes to a close, receive this blessing:

May the pauses you practiced remain available to you.

May the returns you made become more natural.

May the presence you learned to choose stay close when life speeds up again.

May you continue to notice before reacting.

May you listen before fixing.

May you stay when it would be easier to disengage.

And may you trust that God has been at work — not just in what you did, but in who you are becoming.

A Release Into What Comes Next

Now, gently release January.

You don’t need to protect it.

You don’t need to recreate it.

You don’t need to measure it.

Presence has already begun to change how you walk.

Let it go without fear.

Let it carry forward without effort.

Formation does not end when a theme changes.

It deepens when it is lived.

Looking Ahead: February — Faith & Vocation

In February, our attention will shift — not away from discipleship, but directly into one of the places it matters most:

your work.

Not just your job title.

Not just your paycheck.

But the place where you spend your time, energy, creativity, and attention.

We’ll be asking honest questions:

• Is your job your calling, or just your paycheck?
• What does your work actually require of your faith?
• How do you behave biblically in difficult meetings, tense emails, and pressured decisions?

We’ll explore how the kingdom of God takes shape in ordinary workplaces — drawing wisdom from voices like N. T. Wright, who reminds us that God’s kingdom is not abstract, but practiced in everyday life.

We’ll wrestle with vocation and meaning through thinkers like Miroslav Volf, who asks how faith and work belong together, and Timothy Keller, whose work in Every Good Endeavor challenges us to see labor as participation, not just obligation.

And we’ll keep asking foundational questions alongside voices like Rob Bell, who pushes us to ask what Scripture is actually forming us to become — not just what it tells us to believe.

This won’t be theory.

It will be practice.

The Invitation

January taught us how to be present.

February will ask us how to be faithful —

in meetings,

in emails,

in deadlines,

in decisions,

in tension,

and in the ordinary rhythms of work.

This is still discipleship.

Still Monday through Saturday.

Still about following Jesus where life actually happens.

Go gently into what comes next.

Carry presence with you.

God is already there —

in the work ahead.
