Gracious God,

You formed me with limits and called your creation good. Yet I confess how often I resist those limits—continuing long after I am weary, treating exhaustion as faithfulness, and measuring my worth by how much I can carry.

Help me recognize my weariness before it begins to diminish the way I love. Show me when fatigue has made me impatient, when pressure has narrowed my attention, and when constant activity has left too little room for prayer, compassion, or joy.

Teach me to receive rest without embarrassment or guilt. Remind me that needing renewal is not a failure of character or faith. It is part of being human. My body is not an obstacle to spiritual life but part of the life you have entrusted to my care.

Free me from the fear that everything will unravel if I stop. The needs of the world are real, but I am not its savior. The work before me may be important, but it is not sustained by my effort alone. Help me release what can wait, entrust what I cannot control to you, and believe that unfinished work does not make me unfinished in your sight.

Give me wisdom to distinguish true rest from mere escape. When I reach for noise, entertainment, or distraction because stillness feels uncomfortable, help me notice what I am avoiding. Lead me toward the kind of rest that restores rather than numbs—the quiet that settles my mind, renews my body, and makes me present again.

Where I have accepted an unsustainable pace as normal, give me courage to change. Where others depend upon me, teach me to ask for help. Where my own expectations have become merciless, replace them with the gentleness you extend to me.

Let rest restore my capacity to listen, pray, notice beauty, and receive the people around me with patience. May the margin I create become space in which gratitude returns, clarity grows, and my soul remembers what hurry caused it to forget.

Today, help me step away without immediately filling the emptiness. Teach me to breathe deeply, become still, and receive renewal as a gift of your wisdom and care.

I release the need to prove myself through endless activity. I am not loved because I never tire. I am loved because I am yours.

In the name of Jesus, who welcomed the weary and invited his disciples to come away and rest.

Amen.
