Gracious God,

You invite me not only to come to you in the midst of life, but also to step away from its noise so that I might hear more clearly. In the quieting of demands, responsibilities, and constant stimulation, I ask you to meet me in a deeper way today.

As I withdraw from ordinary rhythms, calm the restlessness within me. I confess how quickly I can fill silence with distraction and how uncomfortable I can become when activity no longer defines my sense of purpose. Teach me that stillness is not emptiness, but space made available for truth, honesty, and your presence.

In this time apart, gently reveal what has been hidden beneath the pace of my life. Show me what I have neglected without realizing it—my inner life, my prayer, my relationships, my attentiveness to you. Bring into view what has been forming quietly within me: exhaustion I have ignored, desires I have not named, and longings I have set aside.

Let this retreat become a place of clarity rather than escape. If I am carrying burdens that are not mine to bear, help me release them. If I am avoiding truth, give me courage to face it with grace. If I have grown distant from you in subtle ways, draw me back with kindness rather than condemnation.

Meet me in silence, Lord—not as absence, but as presence. Teach me to listen without needing immediate answers. Help me remain with you without rushing to fill every moment with words. In the quiet, make your nearness more real than my thoughts, more steady than my feelings, and more trustworthy than my uncertainty.

Renew my desire for you. Beneath fatigue, distraction, and obligation, awaken a deeper longing for communion with you. Let that longing not trouble me, but guide me. Let it draw me into a simpler trust, a quieter faith, and a more attentive heart.

May this time apart reorder what daily life has scattered. Restore what has been depleted. Clarify what has become confused. And remind me that I am held by you not because I have stepped away from the world, but because you are present in all places and all seasons.

When I return, let me do so with greater clarity, humility, and love—more aware of you, more honest with myself, and more available to others.

In the name of Jesus, who withdrew to lonely places to pray.

Amen.
