*Staying Present When the Moment Passes*

*March 30 — Holy Week | Discipleship in the Days That Follow*

Yesterday, there were crowds.

Voices raised.

Branches waving.

Expectation building.

A moment that felt unmistakable.

A King entering.

And today?

Quiet.

No procession.

No cheering.

No visible turning point.

Just the beginning of a week that will move slowly, steadily, and quietly toward the cross.

**Discipleship is not only about the moments that feel significant. It’s about staying present in the days that follow.**

**1\. The Moment Is Not the Whole Story**

It’s easy to recognize the important moments.

The breakthrough.

The insight.

The conviction.

The clarity.

Palm Sunday was one of those moments.

But Jesus did not come only for the moment.

He came for the week that followed.

And that week looked very different.

**2\. The Crowd Moves On — Disciples Stay**

Crowds gather quickly.

And disperse just as quickly.

They respond to energy.

To spectacle.

To expectation.

But discipleship is not built on moments of intensity.

It is built on presence.

Staying:

- when nothing feels dramatic
- when clarity fades
- when questions remain
- when the path forward is quieter than expected

The crowd shouted.

But only a few stayed close.

**3\. Holy Week Slows Everything Down**

This week is not rushed.

It unfolds:

- conversation by conversation
- meal by meal
- decision by decision

Nothing about it is efficient.

Everything about it is intentional.

And that is part of its invitation.

To slow down.

To notice.

To resist the instinct to move too quickly past what matters.

**4\. The Same Is True in Your Life**

There are moments when your faith feels clear.

Moments when:

- generosity feels natural
- trust feels steady
- decisions feel aligned

But then come the days after.

Where:

- nothing feels urgent
- nothing feels obvious
- nothing feels especially meaningful

And this is where most people drift.

Not because they reject faith.

But because the moment passed.

**5\. Staying Is the Work**

Holy Week reminds us:

The work is not only in the moment.

It is in the staying.

Staying attentive.

Staying present.

Staying near.

Staying open.

Even when nothing seems to be happening.

Especially then.

**6\. A Practice for March 30**

Today, resist the urge to move quickly.

Choose one moment and remain fully present in it:

- a conversation
- a task
- a quiet space
- a decision

And simply pray:

**“God, help me stay.”**

Not to solve.

Not to rush.

Just to remain.

**The Invitation**

March has been a journey of:

- letting go
- trusting
- giving
- releasing
- becoming

Now Holy Week begins.

And the invitation shifts.

Not to do more.

But to stay closer.

The crowd has moved on.

But you don’t have to.

Monday through Saturday.

Stay.
