# When Love Takes Shape

*June 25 — Spiritual Disciplines | Discipleship in Real Life*

It is possible to admire compassion.

To believe deeply in kindness.

To value generosity.

And yet never allow those convictions to move beyond intention.

Love can remain an idea.

Until it becomes an action.

**Service is where love becomes visible.**

Not because words are unimportant.

Because love was always meant to take tangible form.

**1\. Love Eventually Moves**

One of the consistent patterns in Scripture is this:

God’s love moves toward people.

It feeds.

It heals.

It listens.

It welcomes.

It restores.

Love does not remain abstract.

It enters ordinary life.

Service invites us to do the same.

**2\. Service Reveals Our Priorities**

We often assume we know what matters most to us.

But our calendars, attention, and availability tell a more honest story.

Service gently asks:

Who receives my time?

Who receives my attention?

Who receives my energy?

These questions are not meant to produce guilt.

They invite awareness.

**3\. Service Usually Looks Ordinary**

Many people imagine service as something dramatic.

A major project.

A life-changing event.

Sometimes it is.

More often, it looks like:

- helping without being asked
- listening patiently
- carrying someone else’s burden
- preparing a meal
- making a phone call
- showing up consistently

The Kingdom of God often grows through ordinary acts of love repeated faithfully.

**4\. Service Shapes the One Who Serves**

One of the surprises of this discipline is that service changes us.

It gently loosens:

- self-centeredness
- convenience
- the illusion that our needs always come first

Service enlarges the heart.

Not because we become heroes.

Because we begin paying closer attention to people beyond ourselves.

**5\. Christ Meets Us in Service**

Jesus did not merely teach service.

He embodied it.

Again and again, He moved toward:

- the overlooked
- the weary
- the hurting
- the forgotten

And He invited His followers to do the same.

When we serve another person, we often discover that Christ is already present there.

Waiting to be encountered.

**6\. Service Requires Presence Before Action**

One of the most important parts of service happens before we do anything.

We notice.

Needs that were invisible become visible.

People who were overlooked become seen.

Compassion begins with attention.

Because you cannot meet a need you refuse to notice.

**7\. A Practice for June 25**

Today, intentionally meet one practical need.

It does not need to be large.

Offer:

- your time
- your attention
- your encouragement
- your practical help

Then quietly ask:

**How might Christ be meeting both of us through this act of service?**

Remain open to the answer.

**The Invitation**

June 25 reminds us that discipleship is not merely about becoming a more thoughtful person.

It is about becoming a more loving one.

Love becomes visible through:

- attention
- generosity
- compassion
- service

You do not need to change the whole world today.

You only need to faithfully love the person God places in front of you.

Because service is where faith quietly becomes flesh.

Monday through Saturday.

One act of love at a time.
