# When Nothing Seems to Be Happening

*Faithfulness in the Waiting*

*April 1 — Holy Week | Discipleship in the Middle*

By now, the pace has slowed.

The entrance has passed.

The teachings have been given.

The tension is building.

And yet, from the outside, it can feel like… nothing is happening.

No resolution.

No clear turning point.

No visible breakthrough.

Just a quiet unfolding.

**Some of the most important moments in the story happen when nothing seems to be happening.**

**1\. We Struggle With Unresolved Time**

We are not comfortable with waiting.

We prefer:

- clarity
- action
- movement
- progress

When those are absent, we assume something is wrong.

But Holy Week refuses to rush.

It holds space:

- for tension
- for uncertainty
- for questions that have not yet been answered

And it asks us to remain there.

**2\. God Is Not Absent in the Pause**

When nothing appears to be happening, we often assume absence.

But Scripture repeatedly shows something different:

God is at work in the unseen.

Between the conversations.

Between the decisions.

Between the visible moments.

Formation often happens in the waiting.

Not because nothing is happening —

but because something deeper is.

**3\. We Are Quick to Move On**

In our own lives, we mirror this pattern.

When:

- answers don’t come quickly
- clarity feels delayed
- change doesn’t arrive on our timeline

we look for the next thing.

We distract.

We redirect.

We accelerate.

But discipleship asks something harder:

**Stay.**

**4\. Waiting Forms Trust**

Waiting exposes what we rely on.

When you cannot act, you must trust.

When you cannot fix, you must surrender.

When you cannot see the outcome, you must remain present without certainty.

This is not passive.

It is deeply active faith.

**5\. Holy Week Teaches Us to Remain**

This week is not about rushing to the ending.

It is about walking through the middle.

The part:

- where nothing is resolved
- where tension builds
- where the outcome is not yet visible

And choosing not to escape it.

**6\. A Practice for April 1**

Today, notice one place in your life where nothing seems to be moving.

Instead of trying to change it, pause.

And pray:

**“God, help me remain present here.”**

No solution.

No resolution.

Just presence.

**The Invitation**

April 1 reminds us that discipleship is not only about action.

It is about staying faithful in the waiting.

You do not need to force movement.

You do not need to rush the outcome.

You are invited to remain.

Because what feels like stillness

is often the place where the deepest work is unfolding.

Monday through Saturday.

Even when it feels like nothing is happening.
