*What Begins to Change Over Time*

*April 17 — Easter Week | Discipleship in Real Life*

Yesterday, we talked about staying.

Not dramatically.

Not perfectly.

Just staying.

Today we ask:

**What happens when you actually do?**

Not for a moment.

But long enough.

**1\. Change Begins to Feel Different**

At first, staying feels like effort.

Like:

- resistance
- discipline
- choosing against your instincts

But over time, something shifts.

The same things that once felt difficult

begin to feel natural.

Not easy.

But familiar.

**2\. The Work Moves Inside**

In the beginning, most of the work feels external.

You’re:

- managing your actions
- adjusting your responses
- trying to stay consistent

But when you stay long enough, the work moves inward.

You begin to notice:

- less reactivity
- more patience
- quieter thoughts
- deeper awareness

The change is no longer just what you do.

It’s who you are becoming.

**3\. You Stop Starting Over**

One of the hidden frustrations of early discipleship is the feeling of constantly restarting.

Falling off.

Returning.

Trying again.

But over time, that cycle softens.

Not because you stop drifting.

But because returning becomes faster.

More natural.

Less dramatic.

You don’t start over.

You continue.

**4\. Trust Becomes Steadier**

At first, trust feels like a decision you have to make repeatedly.

Then, gradually, it becomes a posture.

Not something you force.

Something you live from.

Even when:

- things are unclear
- outcomes are unknown
- emotions fluctuate

You remain steadier.

**5\. Growth Stops Needing to Be Seen**

In the beginning, you look for signs of progress.

Proof that something is happening.

But when you stay long enough, something changes.

You stop needing visible confirmation.

Not because growth has stopped.

Because you trust that it’s happening.

**6\. A Practice for April 17**

Today, pause and reflect:

**“What feels different now than it did when I started?”**

Not everything.

Just something.

Name it.

Even if it’s small.

Especially if it’s small.

**The Invitation**

April 17 reminds us that discipleship is not about quick change.

It’s about steady formation.

You may not see dramatic results.

But if you stay…

Things change.

Quietly.

Gradually.

Deeply.

Not because you forced it.

Because you remained.

Monday through Saturday.

Long enough to become different.
